India Alliance Meeting Held in Delhi, Mallikarjuna Kharge Denies PM Candidacy

The fourth meeting of the India Alliance took place yesterday in Delhi, with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee proposing Congress President Mallikarjuna Kharge as the prime ministerial candidate. However, Kharge immediately denied this proposal.

The meeting was attended by several prominent leaders, including Chief Ministers Mamata Banerjee, Nitish Kumar, M.K.Stalin, and Arvind Kejriwal, as well as senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. The suspension of opposition MPs and the issue of how to deal with this problem were also condemned during the meeting.

Mamata Banerjee had previously stated that the prime ministerial candidate of the India Alliance would be decided after the conclusion of the Lok Sabha elections. However, in a sudden turn of events, she expressed her desire at yesterday’s meeting for Kharge to be announced as the prime ministerial candidate. Despite approval from 12 leaders of the India Alliance, Kharge rejected the plan, stating, “There is no point in discussing the PM candidate before getting the majority of MPs.”

The meeting also addressed the issue of seat allocation within the India Alliance, with the Congress party announcing the formation of a National Alliance Committee to discuss the allocation. The committee will be chaired by senior leader Mohan Prakash and will be tasked with holding negotiations at both the state and central levels.

It was also announced that subsequent meetings of the India Alliance will be held in various cities across the country to raise awareness about the alliance. Opposition parties have set a deadline to complete talks on seat sharing by the end of the month.
