Israel has continued its aggressive military campaign in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of 45 Palestinians after bombing houses in Rafah. The Israeli forces also captured the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, leading to hundreds of casualties and the arrest of 500 people. The conflict has also escalated with fierce street fighting between the Israeli army and Hamas in southern Gaza’s second-largest city, Khan Younis.

Efforts to provide emergency aid to Gaza through a UN Security Council resolution have been delayed, with negotiations ongoing to prevent a potential US veto. The resolution, introduced by the UAE, aims to address the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza. The ongoing Israeli attacks in Gaza have resulted in the deaths of 19,667 Palestinians and injuries to 52,586 people, with 131 Israeli soldiers also killed.

The situation has become even more dire as Israeli forces captured two remaining hospitals in northern Gaza, detaining employees and severely impacting the availability of medical treatment for the injured. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant has indicated that the clashes in southern Gaza could continue for months, while asserting that Israeli forces are targeting Hamas tunnels and prominent financiers in the region.

Amidst the violence, talks on a cease-fire are being brokered by Qatar and Egypt, with negotiations also underway for an exchange of hostages and prisoners. Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh has arrived in Cairo, Egypt, for discussions on finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Among the casualties was a two-week-old baby girl named Amira Aisha, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike along with her 2-year-old brother and 25 other family members in Rafah. The heartbreaking loss highlights the devastating impact of the ongoing violence on innocent civilians in Gaza.
