Despite having been retired from motorcycling as a professional driver for years, Casey Stoner continues to enjoy his love of two wheels in his native Australia; The two-time MotoGP world champion is not a great mile-eater, but sometimes he also likes to escape with his brother-in-law and some friends in search of curves and miles to enjoy a Sunday outing like any other mortal, and It also doesn’t mind a day of motocross on some of its two-stroke gems.
The former Ducati and Honda rider in the Motorcycle World Championship spoke to MCN about the motorcycles he keeps in his garage and how to now enjoy his love of two wheels, a passion to which he cannot dedicate as much time as he would like due to the chronic fatigue that began to affect him shortly after leaving MotoGP.
“The truth is that I practically don’t do any kilometers on motorcycles”Casey acknowledges, not without a certain expression of sadness on his face. “This year I have only gone out for three days to do motocross. I have been dealing with chronic fatigue for years and riding a motorcycle is the last thing I can do, “I get sick every time I get off a motorcycle.”laments the eternal number #27 and MotoGP legend.
Casey says that today “He doesn’t ride a motorcycle much” because it’s been five years “battling my chronic fatigue problem, so I haven’t had many opportunities to ride a motorcycle.” Of course, when he has a good day and feels like jumping, he doesn’t take long to put the two MX bikes he currently trains on in his van.: “I have a CRF450 for when I go to the motocross circuitsalso a TM 300 two-stroke that I love to ride.
And although his road routes are limited, Stoner has a whim stored in his garage that he takes out for a walk very occasionally: “The motorcycle I use for the street is a Triumph Scrambler XC, The truth is that I love it. It has heated grips, cruise control for when I take a long trip on the highway… the truth is that I can do everything I want with it, it’s a great bike.”

His medical condition does not allow Stoner to spend too many hours behind the handlebars of a motorcycle, or else he will spend several days lying on the couch or in bed without the energy to move. Before, however, Yes, he liked to ride on the endless roads of his native country, and he assures that there were days when he traveled almost 1,000 miles a day with his friends.
“When I was testing (in MotoGP) I completed about 100 laps a day, so I would have to do the math,” Casey responds when asked what was the furthest distance he has completed in a single day. “It was possibly a trip I took on an adventure motorcycle before suffering from my chronic fatigue problem in northern Australia, We didn’t stop all day, I would say we did between 800 and 1000 miles a day, They were all types of roads, not just highways. You had to be very focused, there were trailers and trucks coming at you, there was a lot of dust… it was really stressful.”
