A 2024 full of emotions begins with the Paris 2024 Olympic Games as the goal. Until July 28, the day on which the sailing competitions will begin, the Spanish Olympic team faces a busy calendar of competitions and training.
In planning for the year, two clear objectives are outlined that begin by going to Marseille with full classes represented, adding the Men’s Formula Kite and the ILCA 6 to the country places already obtained in 49er, 49er FX, Nacra 17, 470 Mixed, iQFOiL Women and Formula Kite Women. The culmination of the work carried out during this short Olympic cycle will be to increase the medal table of the most successful discipline in Spanish sport, which currently has 21 medals: 13 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze.

The Spanish Olympic team faces this last stage of the Olympic cycle with eight classified classes, six of which have already assigned the athletes who will compete in Paris 2024:
49er: Diego Botín and Florian Trittel
49er FX: Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló
470: Jordi Xammar and Nora Brugman
Nacre 17: Tara Pacheco and Andrés Barrio
iQFOiL Men: Nacho Baltasar
Women’s Kite Formula: Gisela Pulido
iQFOiL Femenino (Pilar Lamadrid and Nicole van der Velden) and ILCA 7 (Joel Rodríguez and Joaquín Blanco) will close their selection process in the Princesa Sofía Trophy.
Regarding ILCA 6 and Men’s Formula Kite, the first qualifying opportunity will be the ILCA 6 World Championship that begins this Friday, January 5, where seven country places will be awarded. They will be followed by the European with two places at stake and the Hyères Week with three. For the Men’s Formula Kite, the European Championship will grant one country place and the Hyères Week will grant five.
A tight schedule
During the next seven months, the agenda of our athletes will not know any rest, alternating a tight training program with the respective world and continental championships that will be held until the Olympic Games:
