Tehran: Iran has vowed to retaliate following the twin blasts that rocked the country, with national television showing footage of mourners chanting “revenge” at the funeral of the victims.

During the procession, people also chanted “Death to America and Israel,” as thousands gathered in Kerman to mourn the victims. Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi addressed the crowd, assuring a strong response to the attacks.

The Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the twin blasts, and Iran’s Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi announced that a few people have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Deputy Interior Minister Majid Mir Ahmadi stated that those who assisted in the explosion have been arrested in five cities, with more details to be provided later.

Initial reports stated that 103 people were killed in the blasts, but authorities have now confirmed that 89 people lost their lives and 28 were injured.
