Exclusion of MP from Closing Session of State School Arts Festival Sparks Controversy

MP NK Premachandran has spoken out about being deliberately excluded from the closing session of the state school arts festival in Kollam. The reception committee, which is led by the CPI sympathizing teachers’ union, was in charge of the event’s organization. According to some members of the committee, they were exempted from inviting Premachandran as per a notification from the office of the Education Minister.

Premachandran revealed that he chose not to respond to the exclusion during the well-run Kalolsavam in order to avoid controversy. However, he questioned the protocol and justice behind this decision, especially when he has worked dedicatedly for the success of the arts festival and is the Member of Parliament for the area where the event was held.

He expressed his disappointment at being excluded despite his cooperation and support for the arts festival, stating, “What justice is there to deliberately exclude the local Lok Sabha member despite that cooperative spirit?”

Furthermore, Kodikunnil Suresh, a senior Member of Parliament, was also seated in the second row at the festival’s inauguration, leading to accusations of political pettiness and insult. Premachandran condemned this behavior, questioning the political motives behind such actions.

The exclusion of MPs and the seating arrangements at the festival have sparked controversy and raised questions about political bias and pettiness. As the issue continues to garner attention, many are calling for an explanation from the Education Minister’s office regarding the exclusion of MP Premachandran and the treatment of other dignitaries at the event.
