After MotoRival we gotReview CBR650R 2024 at Kaeng Krachan StadiumGone
Honda has given the media a chance to watch. Continue testing the Honda E-Clutch version as per the appointment. MotoRival will request a review of the Honda E-Clutch on both CBR650 & CB650R models for the audience to see.
which Thai Honda has allowed Thai media to experience, being the first in the world at Chang International Circuit and the first On Road in the world in Buriram city.

As I said, the main details and details of the car are the external appearance. Color screen feature and a few more details improvements, which we talked about when it was first released (you can readhere)

Therefore, we will focus on The feeling of driving at Chang Stadium Focusing mainly on the operation of the E-Clutch system and possibly enhancing the feel of these 2 models a little more.

As for the E-Clutch, it is an electric clutch system. Many people who say that family bikes were made long ago have to say that it is a different system. Characteristics of those cars It will be a foot clutch. That links up to allow you to use the hand clutch like a sports car. It’s not an electric clutch. As we see in the Honda E-Clutch because they have 2 ECU systems, one specifically for the clutch set.
Here there will be details. About various sensors Many people come to help calculate. And its function will include a Quick Shifter 2Ways, even when using a cable throttle, which is considered more advanced than some Supersport cars.

Since we will take off Until going back into the pit to park that car. I never have to mess with the clutch lever again.

Initially, if we don’t turn the key, the E-Clutch system will not work. But when we turn the On Switch key, we will find that the system has raised the clutch to help and wait. Notice from the clutch lever that there is a lot of free play. You have to hold the clutch down to 70% to meet the weight of the clutch.

Which if you focus on riding for general use We don’t have to use the clutch lever anymore. We can push the gear down to 1 and shift the left up to 2->6 normally. If you don’t mess with the clutch lever, no matter how you drive, the car won’t stop.
But if anyone wants to drive with a normal MT transmission (manual clutch), you can just hold the clutch and the system will cut off the E-Clutch, which can be noticed from the logo on the screen, the letter A will disappear, and you can ride like that. Normal clutch, double engine, drive at high rpm, lick the clutch, fuck the clutch and play normally. Of course, if you don’t release the clutch properly, It can be turned off like a normal MT gear.

Next, and how does it work? Is the shifter easy to get into?

I have to go back about 6 years ago. During 2018 MotoRival, we were the only people in Thailand who went to test the MV Agusta SCS (Smart Clutch System) at the Varese factory in Italy on the Turismo 800 Veloce SCS. This SCS system also helps the rider not have to hold the clutch. From starting to stopping (readablehere)

Just listen to the result, the word no need to hold the clutch since Get out and park. Looks the same But the details are not the same at all because the MV uses mainly hardware, but the Honda E-Clutch is an electric system.
The good thing is that it’s easy to shift into gear, very soft and smooth, unlike SCS where I felt pain in my feet when kicking the gear. Because the clutch spring is very stiff. Finally, it’s easier to hold the clutch and shift into gear.
In addition, the shifter can be set to 3 levels: Hard, Medium, Soft, separate for both Up and Down, which is very excellent.

On the first day that I tested the CBR, I set it to the factory settings: Medium, both Up and Down. I secretly encountered a problem when shifting into gears 3->4 at some moments, during corners T5-6 and T9-10 where I had to kick the gears. During the curve
Because I might have to kick the gear diagonally. Because the car was leaning, the force of the kick was not enough. It may also be that the engine rpm is not enough. Before going up to 4th gear, the car doubled the engine, giving it a boost before entering 4th gear. At this point, it made some rhythmic noises. But I think it’s still good because if it’s a shifter or a normal manual clutch It should drop back to 3rd gear as usual. The rhythmic sound is even louder. It is considered that the car system is already trying to help.
At this point, I talked with Achan Tee and gave him advice that I should set the shifter to Hard for both Up and Down. The other day I tested the CB, so I gave it a try. It turned out that I could do better, that is, the gears might be a little harder. Yes, a little more power. But when I kicked in It would go in and do better. On the second day, I was able to ride faster than before.

For the feel of driving in the field, the 650R Series is considered a car that already has just enough power. For use both in the city – traveling long distances
For example, riding on a track like this, the power is about 95ps, compared to riding at Chang International Circuit. For me, it’s considered not too strong to the point of being tiring. I can comfortably ride a full session of 20 minutes.
The initial torque may not be much. In the style of a four-cylinder car, it goes up smoothly. Didn’t pull anything. The accelerator is considered easy to control.
But if anyone rides in the Chang often, they might want a bit more power.

I got TopSpeed at the end of the straight before entering the T3 CBR650R at 225kmph.

As for the CB650R, it’s rated at 219 kmph (Slipstream). Of course, Aerodynamics can’t compete with it. It’s less than that.

That suspension system From the front, I consider it to be very good. The front suspension is considered stable when curved into T4 at speeds of 180+. There are no symptoms yet, but the rear Monoshock is the original setting from the factory. It’s a bit soft.
Riding fast still causes the body to squirm a little, but at this point I think I should adjust the preload. Pressing the spring a little more should make it better.

The braking system is considered adequate and can be done well. For a sports car that is not a Replica line, braking heavily before T3 and T12, I still don’t feel any fade or absence at all.

As for the sitting position, I think that with my own body, the CB650R seems to be able to do better, that is, bend over and the tip of the chin doesn’t hit the key switch. This will come from the handlebar position and the handlebar angle that is spread out a bit.
But the CBR650R is more angled towards the body. But like aptitude And each person’s body is different at this point.

As for the additional weight of 2 kg for the E-Clutch system compared to the MT model, it is considered a little. Because in addition to the clutch box set installed above the right engine crankcase, there will be an additional ECU.
For me, it is not considered a big result at all. As for the added clutch box, it might be cluttered. For people with a small body When you want to put your foot down only

But the point that I haven’t liked about the Honda 650 for a long time is the weight. It seems to be a bit too heavy. Riding time in the track There is no problem when folding the car, and it folds quickly. But the moment I walk the accelerator out of a corner, in the wide range along the Racing Line, I secretly feel that it’s still not that sharp. When exiting a curve, it seems like it curves a bit. causing it to not be able to accelerate fully

Summary Honda E-Clutch (CBR650R & CB650R) Review, Track Riding The Honda 650R Series still rides well at the level it should be as usual. Added QS 2ways that are considered soft. and smooth enough to fit easily

Most importantly, no matter how you ride, it won’t die. If you don’t mess with the clutch lever. Service section There’s almost nothing required. Because there is no gear oil that needs to be changed. As for if there is damage, Honda says it will have to be replaced according to the Part No.
But if you look at the price, add 20,000 – just buy it. Just getting the QS 2ways, for me, it’s worth it.

Let’s just say that if anyone likes a squat look. If you want to go fast, choose the CBR650R. For those who want to ride a little more comfortably and not feel too tired, go with the round headlight CB650R.
