Within the framework of the search for a consensus on the adjustment of diesel and Acpm prices, the Ministry of Finance and the transporters were unable to reach an agreement in the eighth meeting that took place yesterday, Wednesday.

The technical table, which has become the key scenario to define the increase in the Acpm with the objective of closing the gap in the Fuel Price Stabilization Fund (Fepc), will remain on hold, since in the meeting no price adjustments were made.

Alfonso Medrano, president of the Inter-Union Chamber of Transport, announced that, in the absence of agreement, the prices of Acpm and diesel will remain unchanged for the moment. The transporters express their concern, pointing out that the Government has not been able to find a point of consensus that is fair for all parties involved.

It is anticipated that a new meeting between transporters and the Government will be held next week in the hope of reaching an agreement that resolves the current lack of consensus on price adjustments.

It is relevant to remember that Minister Bonilla and his technical team warned last year about a possible deficit of $10.5 billion in the Fepc by 2024 if adjustments are not made to the price of the Acpm.

Transporters have suggested on several occasions that the price per gallon should not exceed $10,300, considering the possible economic implications. For example, according to Fedetranscarga, an increase in the price of Acpm could lead the price of eggs to exceed $1,300. The lack of agreement on fuel prices generates uncertainty about the impact on the economy and the cost of living for citizens.
