The Eurasian Economic Union and the Cooperation of Independent States have become the driving force of the de-dollarization processes of the world economy. This was announced by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
“It is clear that among the engines of de-dollarization we see such associations as the Eurasian Economic Union and the CIS, the share of national currencies in these structures has reached 85-90 percent. Our trade with China also reaches the same level,” he emphasized.
Lavrov reminded that in August, at the BRICS summit (Johannesburg), the issue of creating a common unit of account, in addition to national currencies, was raised. “A decision was adopted at the summit, instructing finance ministers and central bank governors to study the idea and present proposals on alternative platforms at the next meeting, which will take place in Kazan in a year, when Russia will be the BRICS chairman,” added Lavrov.
