Today, on February 2, the US Embassy in Armenia issued a warning urging embassy employees and their families not to visit a number of areas in Armenia.

It is noted that since the publication of the last notification, this time the warning contains a relaxation.

“U.S. Embassy employees and their families are prohibited from any non-essential travel to the following locations, reflecting an easing of restrictions since the last notice was issued:

– Gegharkunik marz, east of Vardenis

– Syunik marz, east of Goris

– Syunik marz, south of Kapan

– Driving through Yeraskh village of Ararat Marz is allowed, stopping is not

“US citizens should continue to exercise caution near all international borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Be aware that some sections of the road may cross international borders without prior notice. Roads may be controlled by checkpoints or closed to travelers without warning,” the message said.
