A second congress of the party Alliance for Albanians within three days was held in Skopje. After party chairman Arben Taravari called the party’s Fourth Extraordinary Congress late on Friday evening, the members of the Alliance for Albanians, who support the chairman of the party’s Central Council, Ziyadin Sela, also held a Fourth Extraordinary Congress today.

Arben Taravari was invited to today’s congress, whose chair remained empty, and according to the previously announced agenda, the attendees voted to dismiss him from the position of chairman of the Alliance for Albanians, “due to violations of the party’s statutes,” local media reported.

Ziyadin Sela, who resigned as chairman of the party after the 2022 local elections, has been re-elected chairman of the Alliance for Albanians.

Thus, the two wings in the party practically finally split, each of them claiming to be the legitimate representative of the Alliance for Albanians.

The rift between Taravari and Sela came after Taravari called on social media to run in the upcoming elections with opposition parties from the Albanian bloc in North Macedonia, while Sela insisted that the Alliance for Albanians should run alone in the presidential and parliamentary elections.

On April 24, the first round of presidential elections will be held in the Republic of North Macedonia, and the second round will be held on May 8, together with the parliamentary elections.
