2024 from January 1, cigarettes in Armenia must be sold in white boxes, on which nothing should be painted. Babken Tunyan, deputy of the CP, announced today at the session of the NA Economic Affairs Committee.

“According to the EAEU regulations, cigarettes must be sold with bad pictures. January 1st will come in a few months, what are we going to do, because tobacco production (no matter how much smoking is prohibited) is a business that is not prohibited by law. Are we going to change the law and bring it into line with the technical regulation of the EAEU or “Are we going to convince the EAEU to change the technical regulation and make it ours, or are we going to ask that this same regime be maintained for Armenia?” asked Babken Tunyan, addressing the former Minister of Health, MP Arsen Torosyan.

Torosyan also thanked for the questions and discussion: “I am glad that there is such an opportunity. We have permission not to use those bad pictures that we are not talking about. We have turned our country into a tobacco paradise.”

Tunyan added that since they still have time, they will try to change the regulations in this regard in the EAEU.
