The Cameroonian Senate is in mourning. The institution announced on Saturday the death of Senator François-Xavier Ngoubeyou at the age of 67, following a long illness. A figure in the Upper House since 2018, the politician will be remembered as a dedicated and committed elected official.
A pillar of the Foreign Affairs Committee
A native of West Cameroon, François-Xavier Ngoubeyou was elected to represent his region in the Senate in 2018. Very involved in the prestigious Foreign Affairs Commission, he became its vice-president.
His peers remember the figure of the senator, diligent and always ready to defend tooth and nail the interests of Cameroon internationally. His disappearance leaves a big void at the Palais du Mont Febe.
67 years of a life dedicated to politics
Before his election to the Senate at the age of 63, François-Xavier Ngoubeyou already had a solid career in politics behind him. His death at just 67 years old prematurely puts an end to the destiny of a man who had dedicated his life to public engagement and service to citizens, both locally and nationally. A great loss for the Cameroonian legislature.
