The Ministerial Council for the Economy agrees to reduce customs duties on imported live animals

Today, Monday, the Ministerial Council for the Economy approved the request of the Ministry of Agriculture, recommending to the Council of Ministers to reduce customs duties on live animals imported for slaughtering and breeding purposes.

The media office of the Ministerial Council for the Economy stated in a statement received by the (INA), that “Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fouad Hussein chaired, on Monday, the seventh session of the Ministerial Council for the Economy, in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Planning, the Ministers of Agriculture, Industry, Labor, and Social Affairs, and the Secretary-General of the Council.” Ministers, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, and the Prime Minister’s advisors for economic and legal affairs, and the Council discussed the items on its agenda and took the necessary decisions regarding them.”
He added, “The Council decided to approve the completion of the project to establish a service street linking the Clock Roundabout to Al-Rehab Roundabout in the city of Fallujah. The Council also approved the inclusion of components for equipping and installing a production line at the seed purification plant in Nineveh Governorate,” continuing, “Given the high prices of red meat in the markets.” In order to contribute to reducing prices, the Council approved the request of the Ministry of Agriculture and recommended to the Council of Ministers to reduce customs duties on imported live animals for slaughtering and breeding purposes (livestock and sheep) by 50% for a period of one year.”
