Hunger and misery in Cuba forces the population to take advantage of the minimum opportunity to obtain some products for free, as happened recently in Santiago de Cuba, when a group of Cubans picked up the oil that was spilled from the ground in front of a store.
The vegetable product is one of the most scarce on the island due to the food crisis in Cuba and the deficit of items in the Regularized Basket.
In the province of Santiago, in the month of January they distributed the oil corresponding to December, while the half pound for January will not be sold to the population.
In this sense, he barely commented on the marketing of the product corresponding to the month of February in some wineries, but, in one of them, when they were preparing to pour into tanks from “La Internacional” that is in the “Arts and Crafts” Rotunda, A good amount of this oil spilled on the ground.
In a normal country, the spill of this product would be a loss, but in Cuba, it turned out to be an advantage for citizens, because when they picked it up from the floor, they would get it for free, even though it is already contaminated.
In a video circulating on social networks, you can see children, young people, adults and desperate drivers trying to collect the oil with plastic knobs.
“People don’t care if the oil is contaminated with dirt or anything else, they just collect it and fill their bottles for consumption in their homes or for sale in other areas of the city that they don’t know where it was taken from.” , highlighted journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada.
