Honored Artist of Azerbaijan, chief conductor and musical director of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater Eyyub Guliyev took part in the 42nd International Opera Festival named after F.I. Shalyapin in Kazan (Republic of Tatarstan, Russia), the conductor himself told Day.Az.

42nd International Opera Festival named after F.I. Chaliapin, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the Kazan Opera, takes place from February 2 to March 1, 2024 at the Tatar Academic State Opera and Ballet Theater named after Musa Jalil.

As part of the festival, the screening of Giacomo Puccini’s opera “Tosca” was a stunning success. The performance was conducted by Honored Artist of Azerbaijan Eyyub Guliyev. The role of Floria Tosca was performed by laureate of international competitions Svetlana Kasiann, the part of Scarpia was performed by Stanislav Trifonov from the National Bolshoi Theater of Belarus, and the part of Cavaradossi was performed by Ahmed Aghadi (Mariinsky Theatre).

At the end of the performance, the audience greeted the Azerbaijani conductor and all participants in the performance while standing.

Let us note that all tickets for the screening of “Tosca” were sold out several weeks before the performance.

“Tosca” first appeared on the festival’s poster in 1994, and then for a long time this performance graced the theater’s repertoire. A new appeal to Puccini’s masterpiece took place in 2022 by the famous Russian director Yuri Alexandrov.
