According to the results of the analysis carried out by the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health, in 2021, the incidence of pesticide poisoning decreased by 1.1 times compared to the previous year.

In 2021, compared to 2020, there was an increase in pesticide poisoning among children.

The majority of pesticide poisonings, 23%, were reported as a result of parental inattention, 20.7% as a result of resident negligence, and 18.4% as a result of attempted suicide.

At the same time, 57.5% of cases were recorded among men, and 42.5% among women. The majority of cases, 65.5%, occurred in adults, and 34.5% in the pediatric population.

In order to avoid poisoning and further complications, the Ministry of Health once again urges:

• use personal protective equipment (special clothing, mask, gloves, glasses, boots) when working with pesticides.

• wash and store clothing contaminated with toxic substances separately from everyday clothing;

• do not store toxic substances in food containers,

• store toxic substances in factory bottles with warning labels attached to them;

• keep toxic substances away from food, in places inaccessible to children,

• store the pesticide in a place inaccessible to children, out of the child’s sight.
