Egyptian and Qatari officials mediating talks between Israel and Hamas in Cairo are pushing for the Palestinian group to provide a list of Israeli hostages to be released as part of a six-week ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Interfax, The Guardian reports this.

The newspaper’s interlocutors noted that Israel did not send a delegation to the second day of negotiations in Cairo, demanding that Hamas present a list of 40 elderly, sick and female hostages who would be released first.

Israel has “more or less” accepted the six-week ceasefire, US officials said.

In their opinion, the absence of the Israeli delegation on the second day of negotiations in Cairo “is not a bad sign,” since Israeli negotiators could have arrived within a couple of hours if an agreement on the list had been reached.

They said it remained unclear what prevented Hamas from preparing a list identifying the first 40 hostages.

The interlocutors suggested that the failure to prepare the list may indicate problems with communication between Hamas units inside and outside Gaza.
