The Italian top club Inter Milan is lonely in the current Serie A season. The leaders, who have been undefeated in the league since the end of September, celebrated a lackluster 2-1 (2-0) against CFC Genoa 1893 and thus won their twelfth competitive game after the turn of the year.

At the same time, in the hunt for their first Scudetto since 2021, the Lombards increased their lead over their pursuers and record champions Juventus Turin to 15 points.

Kristjan Asllani (30th) and Alexis Sanchez (38th, hand penalty) set the course for Inter to win before the break. Johan Vasquez (54th) only scored a consolation goal for Genoa. Former German U21 national team captain Yann-Aurel Bisseck came on as a substitute 17 minutes before the final whistle.

Is Inter reaching for the Serie A record?

Inter Milan even has the chance to beat Juventus Turin’s all-time Serie A points record eleven games before the end of the season. The Old Lady won the Scudetto in 2014 with an incredible 102 points. The Milanese currently have 72 points in their account and with 33 possible points they could even afford a defeat in order to still catch up with the record holder.
