The Western Customs Department of the RA SRC recently discovered a new case of violation of customs rules.

The express cargo transportation company imported about 560 parcels from Great Britain to the Republic of Armenia.

After the customs operations carried out by the customs officers of the Western Customs Department, the parcels were handed over to the express cargo transportation company for delivery to the citizens. After the completion of the customs operations, outside the customs control zone, the company’s employees loaded the consignments into the trunk of the car belonging to the above-mentioned company. Having reasonable suspicions about the apparent violation of customs rules, the trunk of the car belonging to the company was subjected to a double inspection in the territory of the cargo complex of “Armenia International Airports” CJSC. As a result of the examination, it was found that there are 10 undeclared parcels with a total value of 5.2 million AMD.

In relation to the case, a protocol was drawn up regarding the violation of customs rules, according to Article 307 of the RA Law on Customs Regulation. A fine of more than 1 million drams was imposed. At the same time, the declarants have already paid the customs fees stipulated by the law in the amount of about 485 thousand drams for the import of the mentioned goods.

Considering the above, SRC urges carriers to properly perform their functions.
