TKE Minister Gnel Sanosyan sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of Energy Day.
“I warmly congratulate you on the occasion of the professional holiday, Energy Day.
In these years, we have made serious progress in the energy sector. At the beginning of the year, the energy market was liberalized, which was a completely new system and there were big risks. But today, at the end of the year, we can confidently state that the implemented reform was successful. Currently, 13.8% of the electricity consumed within the country is purchased in the free market under competitive conditions, which exceeds all our predictions and expectations. There has been an unprecedented increase in trade with Georgia, which has become possible as a result of the simplification of procedures, the electronic platform and the absence of unnecessary agreements.
As of December 1, trade of around 400 million kWh took place. This indicator is more than the previous 5 years combined.
So we are trying to make fair pricing mechanisms for everyone.
The Armenian NPP has been modernized, for the first time the nuclear power plant is working at 100 percent thermal capacity. The technical and economic rationale for the construction of a new nuclear power unit in Armenia is being developed.
Re-equipment and reconstruction works of high-voltage substations are being carried out. New power transmission lines are being built, and the power system operator ensures uninterrupted and reliable operation of the system around the clock.
And all these works are carried out thanks to your high professional abilities. I wish that from now on you will successfully implement the tasks set before you, contributing to the development and uninterrupted work of Armenia’s energy sector,” the message says.
