At today’s session of the government, a decision was made to allocate money to the Yerevan metro named after Karen Demirchyan.

Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Gnel Sanosyan said that there is a need to carry out regular works and capital projects there.

“We propose to carry out two main works, one relates to the process of purchasing 14 powerful air conditioners. The air conditioners of the metro were installed in the 1980s and have not been changed, considering the strategic and vital importance of the metro, we have started that process now. These purchases will amount to 480 million drams. The other one is called arrow conveyors, these are also planned to be changed every five years, but now we have fallen behind, the last time it was changed 9 years ago, and about 19.4 million drams are earmarked for this,” explained the minister. :

Sanosyan said that another 150 million drams are being purchased for the metro in order to buy various parts.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also said that their strategic goal is the further development of the Yerevan metro.

“We have announced a tender for the process of building the Ajapnyak metro station, the design work is already underway, we are finishing the first phase and, according to the plan, we will have a ready project at the end of 2023 and we will have the opportunity to announce a construction tender,” said Pashinyan.

He emphasized that the construction of Ajapnyak metro station should start in 2024.
