The renowned salsa singer, Willy García, is ready to celebrate three decades of musical career with a series of concerts that promise to be memorable. Starting in the capital of eternal spring Medellín this weekend, García will take this concert to Bogotá and Cali.
Known for his powerful voice and his ability to sing (improvise), Willy García has left an indelible mark on Latin music. He has been nominated for Latin and Anglo Grammy Awards, with his songs appearing on the Billboard charts, García has captivated audiences in Latin America with songs such as “Gotas de rain”, Y Así” and “Lo que te sobre” among other successes.
In interview for Las2orillas, Willy García shared his reflections on this milestone in his career. “Imagine, it’s already been 30 years,” said García. “I have enjoyed every moment, every process, and I am excited to celebrate with my people.”
When asked about how he plans to celebrate these 30 years, Willy revealed that it includes a series of concerts in several Colombian cities. “We are going to start in three cities,” García explained. “Medellín will be the starting point (March 16), followed by Bogotá (April 6) and Cali (April 27).”
These concerts promise to be unforgettable experiences, lasting approximately three hours and featuring prominent guest artists. García plans to bring together former colleagues from orchestras such as La Suprema Corte, Grupo Niche and Son de Cali, as well as other international musicians for a celebration that will remain in the hearts of attendees.
Furthermore, Willy García does not rule out the possibility of exploring new sounds in his music. Given the growing popularity of regional Mexican in Colombia and the American continent, the singer is open to the idea of making a fusion between the regional genre and salsa, possibly collaborating with Mexican artists in the future.
Willy García’s 30th birthday concert will feature other guests, including Charly Cardona and Javier Vázquez, García’s colleagues in Grupo Niche and Son de Cali, as well as Puerto Rican singer Rafu Warner, among others. The mixes will be in charge of the renowned Colombian DJ who lives in New York, Álex Sensation.
