Today, the RA Food Safety Inspection Body received a letter from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus addressed to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia, stating that during the state sanitary control carried out for the purpose of compliance with the legislation in the field of sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population in the country, the fact of circulation of food products that do not meet the requirements of the technical regulations of the Eurasian Economic Union was recorded.

“In particular, it is mentioned in the letter that according to the results of the laboratory examination of natural semi-sweet, low alcohol “Ayrum” pomegranate wine produced by Ararat Brandy Factory LLC, synthetic dye azorubin (E122) was found, which is an indicator of signs of possible counterfeiting of this product.

Based on the above, the import and circulation of “Ayrum” pomegranate wine of the given company in the Republic of Belarus was temporarily limited.

However, the letter from Belarus does not mention in which batch of “Ayrum” pomegranate wine the discrepancy was found, whether other batches were also checked and other professional details.

The RA Food Safety Inspection Authority, registering this message as an alert, will carry out control measures at Ararat Brandy Factory LLC to verify the authenticity of the discrepancies presented by Belarus, and will also apply to the Belarusian side to clarify certain details of the restrictions.

The SATM will publish the results with an additional message,” said the SATM message.
