On January 11, the opening ceremony of the 84th men’s and 79th women’s chess championships of Armenia was held at Tigran Petrosyan Chess House-Sports School.
The first vice-president of the Armenian Chess Federation, grandmaster Smbat Lputyan and the chief referee of the championships Ashot Vardapetyan welcomed the participants and wished them a successful competition.
The first game will start on January 12 at 15:00.
The Armenian men’s and women’s champions will be included in the Armenian national team in 2024.
International grandmasters Samvel Ter-Sahakyan, Manuel Petrosyan, Robert Hovhannisyan, Zaven Andriasyan, Tigran Harutyunyan, Mamikon Gharibyan, international master Artur Davtyan, FIDE masters Robert Piliposyan and Erik Chakaryan, as well as Davit Tiraturyan will participate in the men’s championship.
Grand master Maria Gevorgyan, women’s international master Susanna Gaboyan, FIDE masters Arpine Gevorgyan, Anna Khachatryan, Mariam Avetisyan, as well as Polina Kobak, Milena Gasparyan, Meline Harutyunyan, Alvard Stepanyan and Mariam Khachatryan will participate in the women’s championship.
Within the framework of the championship, 9 rounds will be held without weekends. The championship will last until January 21.
