The delegation headed by Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan participated in the third session of the Armenian-Lithuanian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation in Lithuania.

Armenia and Lithuania will cooperate more closely in bilateral trade, investments, agriculture, high technologies, healthcare, transport, education, science and other fields.

Lithuanian Minister of Economy and Innovation Aushrine Armonaite presented to the Armenian delegation the advantages and most important initiatives of Lithuania’s investment environment, in particular, green corridor, privileges in free economic zones.

The chairman of the Armenian side of the commission, Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan, referred to the challenges created by the COVID-19 epidemic, as well as the war unleashed by Azerbaijan. The minister noted that despite the difficulties, Armenia is determined to move forward, transforming the existing challenges into opportunities.

The minister reinforced his words with facts. According to the data of the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, from January to August 2022, the trade turnover of Armenia with Lithuania increased by 2.5 times compared to the same period last year.

After the speeches of the ministers of the two countries co-chairing the session, the representatives of the Armenian delegation discussed with their Lithuanian counterparts the bilateral opportunities in the field and the most remarkable aspects of interaction.

At the end of the session, a number of documents were signed, including the two ministers signed a protocol strengthening bilateral cooperation.

After the meeting, a tour was organized for the delegation led by Minister Avanesyan to the Center of Biotechnology under Vilnius University, the oldest in Lithuania, where a number of opportunities for cooperation were discussed.
