The 75th annual World Health Assembly, which is the highest decision-making body of the World Health Organization (WHO), high-level delegations of all member-states, observers, the United Nations (UN), international, non-governmental organizations and WHO, has started in Geneva, Switzerland. with the participation of other bodies with official relations.
During the assembly, the elections of the Director General of the WTO, the president of the assembly and 5 vice-presidents, the chairmen of 2 main committees were held, and the composition of the 29th General Committee of the assembly was also approved.
Let’s remind that the Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan, who is in Geneva on a 7-day official visit, heads the delegation of Armenia.
The General Committee (GC) of the World Health Assembly consists of 25 members, including the President, Vice-Presidents and Chairs of the main committees.
5 more seats have been allocated to the European region in the Central Committee, for one of which the Republic of Armenia has been appointed as a member of the General Committee.
At the same time, during the assembly, on May 29, the elections of the Executive Board of the organization will take place: in the regional group C, the candidacy of RA Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan is also presented. The Executive Board consists of 34 qualified members who are elected for a 3-year term.
