They (teenage gangs) are asked to take a slightly different approach to the way we traditionally handle other criminals. Gave instructions to Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Social Welfare.
Don’t criminalize them in the long run if they are involved in a crime. An opportunity should be kept for their correction. He said that the opportunity to engage them in various activities should be kept. He also directed that they should not be kept with other accused when kept in jail. He has already given instructions to the Ministry of Social Welfare to take up the project in this regard, he said.
The Cabinet Secretary said that there are now three correctional facilities in the country, the Prime Minister has given instructions to increase their number. Asked to make more facilities, so that they can be corrected. Let us correct them in such a way that they can play their expected role in the society, in the state. He asked to arrange counselling. Psychologists or counseling must play a major role when dealing with juvenile delinquents. Parents, teachers and local public representatives are asked to be involved.
The law will proceed in its normal course. When dealing with them, do not make him more criminal. He should be given the environment to reform. Even if he is in jail, he can come out as a good citizen.
So that they get the opportunity to correct. When dealing with juvenile delinquents, remember that they are citizens of the future. Do not keep them with other criminals. Said to put in special counseling and training – said the Cabinet Secretary.
