At the Third European Summer Games in Poland, Armenian athletes won 4 medals: 1 silver and 3 bronze.

Shooters Elmira Karapetyan and Benik Khlghatyan were declared runners-up of the Games, becoming gold medalists in the 10m, 30+30 shooting team mixed exercise and setting a European Games record. Karate athlete Anita Makyan and Muay Thai athlete Narek Khachikyan became bronze medal winners.

The first European blitz chess pairs championship was also held in Krakow, where the Armenian team represented by Elina Danielyan and Shant Sargsyan won the champion title. Elina took the first place and Shant took the second place in the individual calculation.

Among the representatives of Armenia, the taekwondo players were the last to compete. Kristine Mangasaryan-Rafael Vardanyan duo played in mixed doubles and overcame the group stage and reached the quarter finals. On the last day of the competition, Gor Sargsyan and Rafael Vardanyan also overcame the barrier of the group stage, performing in men’s doubles. In the quarter finals, the Armenian athletes lost to the current world champions, representatives of Serbia.

“We were able to do what we did during training. We have reached the quarter-finals for the third tournament in a row and I think we have already proved our strength to the world to some extent. In the next step, we should try to go further,” said the leader of the taekwondo team, Gor Sargsyan.

Athletes, boxers, fencers, divers and the only representative of taekwondo also completed their performances at the European Games earlier.

During the third European Summer Games, more than 7,000 sportsmen and women competed for 253 sets of medals in 26 sports. Armenia was represented by 57 athletes in 9 sports.
