The desire of the European Union (EU) countries to send weapons to Ukraine even in the event of a hypothetical return to power of former US President Donald Trump suggests that Washington is losing control over its allies. This was stated by the former commander of US forces in Europe, retired General Ben Hodges, reports NBC News, Day.Az reports with reference to Lenta.ru.
“It’s a shame. It shows that our allies are losing trust in the United States. If they lose trust in us, we lose influence over them. The conflict in Ukraine is not just about Ukraine,” he said.
Hodges also emphasized that the United States’ most reliable allies are in Europe. He concluded that Washington is losing trust, including on the issue of assistance to Kyiv.
