The President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received the director of “Armenian Special Olympics” NGO Artak Stepanyan and the coaches and athletes of the organization.
The organization is the representative of the world’s largest sports organization for children and adults with mental disabilities “Special Olympics” in Armenia.
The organization’s mission is to conduct year-round training and competitions in Olympic sports and integrate them into society for people with special mental education needs.
At the Summer Olympic Games held in Dubai in 2019, two athletes of the “Armenian Special Olympics” NGO won gold medals in swimming and athletics.
The “Armenian Special Olympics” NGO will participate with 4 athletes in the “Berlin Special Olympics Summer Olympic Games” to be held in Berlin, the capital of Germany, on June 17-25.
During the meeting, the existing problems of applying the principles of inclusiveness in sports and ways to solve them were discussed.
The President of the Republic emphasized his readiness to support the organization’s important activities as much as possible.
