Manila/Yerevan: The Government of India is deploying Defense Attaches for the first time to several African countries as well as Armenia and the Philippines to promote military diplomacy in the world. In defense circles, the deployment of defense attaches in Armenia and Philippines is being said to be a big win-win deal for India. The reason for this is that both Armenia and Philippines have signed arms deals worth billions of rupees with India. While Armenia is purchasing Pinaka rocket system, cannon and other weapons from India, Philippines has purchased BrahMos missile from India. It is believed that in the coming time, both these countries can buy more weapons from India. In fact, in the year 2022, the Philippines had signed an agreement with India to buy three batteries of BrahMos missile for $375 million. This supersonic cruise missile has been jointly developed by India and Russia. In the same year, Armenia became the first foreign buyer to purchase the Pinaka rocket launcher system from India. In fact, India keeps many officers from Army, Navy and Air Force deployed in Russia so that arms deals can be executed. Till recently the number of such officers was 10, of which 4 were from the Navy.

India can earn by selling weapons

Meanwhile, due to no major deal with Russia, the number of defense attaches was reduced. Both Russia and America have friendly relations with India and these countries play an important role in the purchase and sale of new weapons. These countries keep doing joint exercises and training. Armenia and Philippines are countries where tension is flaring. There is a fear of attack by Azerbaijan on Armenia. Recently, Azerbaijan had vacated Nagerno Karabakh from the occupation of people of Armenian origin.

India successfully tests BrahMos missile

Whereas Azerbaijan is now threatening Armenia with the help of Turkish and Pakistani weapons. For this reason, Armenia is now buying arms from India and France on a large scale. Defense attaches can make this entire process easier. At the same time, Philippines is facing threats from China. India had recently openly supported the sovereignty of the Philippines. After Philippines, now other South Asian countries are also considering purchasing BrahMos missile from India. This may increase India’s arms exports. India has a target of exporting arms worth Rs 50 thousand crore in the next 5 years.
