“The President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received the head of the European Union delegation in Armenia, Vasilis Maragos.
Welcoming the guest, the president stressed that the EU-Armenia relations are steadily and dynamically developing.
Expressing gratitude for the reception, Vasislos Maragos noted that he invests all his efforts in strengthening and expanding the EU-Armenia partnership.
During the meeting, agenda items regarding the progress of various sectoral programs and initiatives implemented with the European Union were discussed. Reference was made to the perspectives of implementing the existing interaction potential in energy, education, economic and other fields.
The head of the EU delegation presented details to the President of the Republic regarding the program of upcoming events dedicated to Europe Day.
In recent years, the reforms carried out in the direction of strengthening democratic institutions in Armenia with the support of the European Union have been emphasized by both sides.
During the conversation, the parties discussed the possibilities and directions of complex solution of the humanitarian and social problems of forcibly displaced people from Nagorno Karabakh.
At the meeting, ideas were exchanged on the role of the European Union’s civilian observation mission, which has an important positive effect in reducing border tensions.”
