Portuguese coach Artur Jorge made his debut on Thursday with a defeat against Brazilian side Botafogo, losing 1-0 in the Liga de Quito, in the second round of the group stage of the Libertadores Cup in football.

A goal from Argentine Lisandro Alzugaray, after just four minutes, sealed the Ecuadorians’ triumph and defeated the ‘Canarinho’ team, who, in this way, remained alone in fourth and last place in Group D, with no points.

The Rio de Janeiro team had started with a defeat at home against the Colombians from Junior, who remain at the top of the group, with the same four points as the Peruvians from Clube Universitario de Deportes.

In the second round, Colombians and Peruvians drew 1-1 in Barranquilla.

Botafogowho signed Artur Jorge from Sporting de Braga, play again on Sundaywith Cruzeiro, in Belo Horizonte, in the first round of the Brazilian championship.
