jpnn.comJAKARTA – Member of Commission I DPR RI Dave Laksono hopes that Indonesia can play a role in cooling tensions in the Middle East following Iran’s attack on an Israeli military base on Sunday (14/4).

“We will certainly never stop calling for messages of peace to all parties,” said Dave to the media, Minggu.

The legislator from the Golkar Party faction hopes that Indonesia can become a country that can encourage countries in the Middle East not to fight.

“Whatever it is, military attacks on residential areas cannot be justified. Indonesia is obliged to call for no further attacks that could worsen the situation,” said Dave.

Previously, Iran claimed to be defending itself as stipulated in Article 51 of the United Nations (UN) Charter when the Tehran military decided to attack an Israeli military base on Sunday (14/3).

This is as stated in the press statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) of the Islamic Republic of Iran as revealed by the country’s Embassy in Indonesia this Sunday.

“The armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran are exercising their natural right to defend themselves,” said the Iranian Foreign Ministry in a press statement, Sunday.

Iran also views the attack as a response to Israel’s repeated aggression into Syria which killed the country’s military adviser Ali Khomeini.

Indonesian DPR member Dave Laksono hopes that Indonesia’s role will cool tensions in the Middle East following Iran’s attack on an Israeli military base on Sunday (14/4).
