The Venezuelan government accused the United States of not adhering to the sanctions lifting agenda agreed upon between the two countries.

Venezuelan Minister of Information and Communication Freddy Niñez said in a statement, commenting on the meeting between Venezuelan and American officials in Mexico: “During this meeting, we discussed the agreements reached during the negotiations in Doha between the two delegations on immigration issues and lifting sanctions.”

The statement continued: “Based on the agreements reached in Doha, we point out that the American administration is not committed to the agreed-upon schedule for lifting sanctions.”

He added: “Venezuelan society unanimously demands the lifting of all sanctions that affect the right to peaceful life and violate international law and the Charter of the United Nations.”

The minister also condemned “the leaks in the American media of information about the meeting, which was held in a private setting.”
