The US and UK today, April 18, announced the introduction of new sanctions against Iran in response to Tehran’s recent attack on Israel.
This was reported by the US Treasury and the UK government.
It is noted that the sanctions include 16 people and two organizations associated with the production of drones and engines for the Shaheds. In addition, five companies supplying components to the Iranian steel company Khuzestan Steel Company, located in various jurisdictions, were included in the sanctions list.
The US Treasury Department noted that Iran’s metallurgical sector generates significant revenues.
“Iran’s steel sector generates revenue equivalent to several billion dollars annually, most of which comes from steel exports,” the statement said.
Subsidiaries of the Bahman Group that support the IRGC were also sanctioned. The British also imposed sanctions against several Iranian military organizations, individuals and legal entities involved in the production of drones and ballistic missiles.
According to the US Treasury Secretary, the new sanctions are aimed at degrading and destroying key aspects of Tehran’s harmful activities. These Western actions were prompted by Iran’s attack on Israel, which involved the use of missiles and drones.
