Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas | April 19, 2024.- The Autonomous University of Tamaulipas (UAT) held the eleventh edition of Health Week, held from April 15 to 19 in the First Aid Unit of the Faculty of Sciences, Education and Humanities (FCEH) of the Victoria Campus.

During this week, various services were offered free of charge, together with workshops and conferences with the aim of promoting well-being and comprehensive prevention among the student, teaching and administrative community.

At the opening of the activities, Dr. Elsa Fernanda Quintero, director of the FCEH, that these health actions at the university level are part of the institutional commitment of the rector Dámaso Leonardo Anaya Alvarado.

Among the services provided are the administration of vaccines against hepatitis, measles and influenza; ophthalmology consultations; general medical care; preventive medicine and rapid tests for HIV, syphilis and hepatitis C.

In addition, there was a specialized mobile unit for women, provided by the Tamaulipas DIF System, where breast examination and cervical cancer timely detection services were provided.

As part of the events, various workshops and training sessions were held for students, teachers and administrative staff. Among these, the UAT University Defense team taught the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Workshop: CPR First Aid, to teach students the basic techniques to act in emergency situations.

In addition, a team from the Mexican Social Security Institute gave the IMSS Youth Talks, to strengthen knowledge about health self-care and promote nutritional, sexual and reproductive health actions.

After Health Week, attention in this area is maintained continuously. Medicines are regularly supplied by the Ministry of Health to the First Aid Unit, and donations of medicines are also received from university students.
