During the upazila elections, all kinds of Awami League committee formations and conferences will be closed, said the party’s general secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.
He said these things in a conference at Awami League president’s political office in Dhanmondi on Saturday (April 20).
Obaidul Quader said, ‘Our election is being held at the upazila level. The first phase of the election is ahead. During this election, any upazila or district level conference, expired conference, committee formation process will be closed.
In response to a question about the close relatives of the minister-MP participating in the upazila elections, the bridge minister said, ‘The close relatives should withdraw from the elections. Those who want to do so in future have also been asked to stay away from the electoral process. Instructions are given to make a list of those who are. The list is being prepared accordingly.’
In response to the question that many people are still in the election despite the instructions, Obaidul Quader said, ‘Let the date of withdrawal be over, how can we talk about it before that.’
