Nuclear weapon sharing is NATO‘s nuclear deterrent, allowing member states that do not have such weapons to participate in planning how NATO would use them. These weapons are located in some NATO countries but are controlled by the US.

During his visit to the USA, President A. Duda gave an interview to the Fakt.pl portal, which was published on Friday. The country’s leader said that Poland and the United States had been negotiating a nuclear fission program for some time.

“I have already spoken on this topic several times. I have to admit that I expressed our readiness when asked. Russia is increasingly militarizing the Kingdom. It recently deployed nuclear weapons in Belarus,” the president emphasized.

“If our allies decide to deploy nuclear weapons on our territory under nuclear sharing to strengthen NATO’s eastern flank, we are ready for it. We are allies in the North Atlantic Treaty and we have obligations in that regard. We are simply implementing a common policy,” said A. Duda.

Since 2009 US nuclear weapons are deployed in Belgium, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands as part of the nuclear fission program.

Poland in 2023 June 30 has applied to join this program.
