The Danish Armed Forces are exhausted due to assistance to Ukraine and are unable to modernize in a short time. This was reported by Agence France-Presse, Day.Az reports with reference to Lenta.ru.
“Unfortunate performance errors, tumultuous layoffs and rising costs recently exposed the dismal state of the Danish Armed Forces after two years of generous donations to Ukraine, prompting Copenhagen to modernize its troops,” the publication notes.
The authors of the material also refer to security expert Peter Rasmussen. He emphasized that Denmark is one of the largest donors of military equipment to Ukraine, which led to the maximum reduction of arsenals. The problem is also compounded by a shortage of officer corps for the armed forces, which calls into question the ability to train new recruits.
Last September, the Danish government bought a 17th-century factory in the city of Jelling to produce shells for Kyiv. Since 1968, weapons production has been launched at the facility, and in 2020 it was closed as unprofitable. This plant was the only one in the country that produced ammunition.
