WRC stage is a big test / Day”>Sesks/Francis have planned to compete in the seventh stage of the world championship in Poland and the eighth stage in Latvia.
In Poland, the Latvians will start with a non-hybrid car “Ford Puma Rally1“, and in the stage in Latvia with such a hybrid car “M-Sport Ford” as part of the rally team.
Sesks is the first pilot who received the support of “WRC Promoter GMBH” and “M-Sport Ford” for participation in the young talent program, which promotes the transition from “Rally 2” to “Rally 1” or the highest level of WRC.
The stage in Poland will take place from June 27 to 30, while the Latvian stage will take place from July 18 to 21.
“This is something that all motorists have dreamed of, and our dream has come true,” said Cesk.
In 2020, Cesk became the vice-champion of the FIA WRC junior competition, and last year the vice-champion of the European Rally Championship (FIA ERC). Also, Sesks/Francis won the “Tet Rally Liepāja” two years in a row, which took place on similar roads as the upcoming “Tet Rally Latvia” this summer. Last year, Cesk was also the only one who won two ERC rallies. The crew piloted by Seska did it in gravel competitions in Poland and Latvia.
“In the past two ERC seasons, Mārtiņš [Sesks] has shown a very commendable performance and has become a worthy candidate for the program. The vigor of the fight and the victories in the stages of Latvia and Poland last year allow us to believe that in time he will become a permanent participant of the WRC,” says the senior sports director of “WRC Promoter GMBH” Peters Tūls about the involvement of the Latvian motorist in the program.
Meanwhile, “M-Sport Ford” team leader Richards Millener expressed his satisfaction with the opportunity to cooperate with Seska, using the new 2024 technical regulations.
“The new rules allow you to start with “Rally1″ cars without a hybrid element. It is a convenient and also financially beneficial solution not only for Mārtiņš, but in the future for any other capable athlete, and allows us to expand the circle of Rally1 participants,” stated Millener. “Seskas has an impressive CV and is the perfect candidate for the new program. His debut in Poland with a non-hybrid car will allow him to test his strength before racing with a hybrid engine at his home track, Tet Rally Latvia. It will be fantastic to see him compete with the elite drivers in front of his fans, driving the best of rally cars.”
Sesks/Francis will also continue to compete in the European Rally Championship (ERC), where last year they lost only to the crew of New Zealanders Hayden Paddon/John Kennard.
