New Delhi: The trend of electric vehicles is increasing rapidly in the world. The popularity of electric vehicles is gradually increasing in India also. Tata Motors has more than 70% share in India’s EV market. According to media reports, the company sold more than 66 thousand EVs last year. Its share in the global EV market is not even one percent. No Indian company is included in the world’s top 10 EV production companies. Four companies from our neighboring country China are included in this list. This includes three companies from Germany, two from South Korea and one from America. American company Tesla remained at number one in terms of production in 2023. Its share in total EV production in the world was 19.9%. The company produced 1,845,985 electric vehicles last year. Chinese company BYD is at second place in this list. In the fourth quarter, the company made more cars than Tesla, but if we talk about the whole year, it remained at second place with 17.1 percent share in global production. Chinese company GSC stood third with 5.2 percent share in global EV production and SAIC stood fourth with 4.9 percent. German company Volkswagen is at fifth position in this list with 4.6 percent share and BMW is at sixth position with 3.6 percent share. South Korean company Hyundai’s share in global EV production is 2.9 percent and it is at seventh place in this list.

German company Mercedes-Benz has a share of 2.6 percent in the world’s total EV production. Another Chinese company has got a place in the top 10. MG’s share in global production there is 2.3 percent. South Korean company Kia is at tenth place in this list with two percent share. In the year 2022, BYD was at first place with 18.1 percent share while Tesla was at second place with 12.8 percent share. Similarly, Volkswagen (8.2%) third, General Motors (5.7%) fourth, Stellantis (5.0%) fifth, Hyundai (4.8%) sixth, BMW (4.2%) seventh, Geely Auto (3.4%) eighth, Mercedes-Benz (3.3%) %) was at ninth place and Renault-Nissan-Mutsubishi (3.3%) was at tenth place.
