The Citizen Revolution will open files to these assembly members, some of whom are important figures in the movement.
It caused stupor, confusion and even surprise. In a usually monolithic and vertical movement, seven assembly members of the Citizen Revolution distanced themselves from their colleagues and voted in favor of the law to promote Tourism proposed by President Daniel Noboa.
The disturbance was so great that Assemblyman Blasco Luna, who is a member of the Economic Development Commission, described it as “Judas» to the seven colleagues who aligned themselves with the official project. So far, the official channels of the Citizen Revolution have not issued comments. Nor has the movement’s leader, Rafael Correa, an inveterate tweeter, done so.
Luisa González, president of the group and presidential candidate, assured in a meeting with migrants in Spain that disciplinary files will be opened against the seven legislators, according to information from El Universo.
The implications of this vote and whether the files lead to sanctions remain to be seen. Perhaps it was just occasional support from the seven. But there are fears that a breakup is brewing and that this is one more clue for this theory. Another sign is that Emilia Reece, daughter of Marcela Holguín, for example, is the Mayor and also a member of the Government party. As the saying goes, blood is heavier than water. These are the assembly members of the City Revolution who distanced themselves, at least for this fleeting moment, from the partisan discipline of Correismo:
Pierina Correa

She is the sister of Rafael Correa. She unleashed the pressure that ended up removing Marcela Aguiñaga from the leadership of the movement after the last elections.
She is also the legislator of the Citizen Revolution who obtained the most votes. She is President of the Commission for the Comprehensive Protection of Girls, Boys and Adolescents. She explained that she voted in favor of the Tourism Promotion Law because the changes proposed by Correismo were accepted.
Pamela Aguirre

Since 2016, when she encouraged the group Rafael, Siempre Contigo, she has been a defender of the leader of the Citizen Revolution. She has been an Andean parliamentarian and today is an assembly member for Imbabura and president of the Oversight Commission.

Journalist by professionalso exhibits firm militancy in defense of Rafael Correa, especially since 2017.
She was the first vice president of the Assembly between 2022 and 2023. She currently represents Pichincha and is vice president of the Commission on the Right to Work and Social Security. Her daughter is a member of the government party.

He has been an assembly member for Correismo since 2021, when he won the seat for Guayas. She had a controversy with former legislator Verónica Guevara for physical and psychological abuse. Re-elected in 2023, he is part of the Sovereignty, Integration and Comprehensive Security Commission.

Lawyer by profession, he has been a Public Defender and Secretary of the State Attorney General’s Office. He represents Bolívar and is a member of the Justice and State Structure Commission of the National Assembly.

Communicator and professor, she was governor of Loja between 2014 and 2017. She currently represents her province in the Assembly and is part of the Assembly’s Right to Work and Social Security Commission. She is also President of the Parliamentary Group for the Promotion of Culture and Art in Ecuador.

He represents Galapagos and belongs to the Biodiversity and Natural Resources Commission. Promotes the inspection process in the increase in fees to enter Galapagos of the current Government. Therefore, he was surprised that he voted for the tourism law.
