Hillary Clinton is coming for a special meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) on May 18, 2024 in Sofia, at the invitation of Kiril Domuschiev.
The event will bring together global leaders from the public and private sectors to identify ways to support the global advancement of women.
CGI is a community of established and emerging leaders working together to create and implement commitments to action – new, specific and measurable solutions to pressing global challenges. The meeting in Sofia is part of CGI’s “Road to September” – annual gatherings to establish new partnerships and initiatives before the CGI 2024 Annual Meeting in New York on September 23-24.
The host of the event in May in Sofia is Kiril Domuschiev, co-founder of the Domuschiev Impact initiative and member of the CGI Advisory Board. Domuschiev Impact was a partner of the 2022 and 2023 CGI meetings in the USA.
The forum on May 18 will bring together more than 200 leaders who will work together on initiatives to support women’s leadership and fairer access to capital, employment and advancement. Stories of programs that have successfully supported women’s entrepreneurship and ways to expand these efforts will be shared, and CGI’s commitments currently driving progress in gender equality and representation in the workforce will be reviewed.
This year’s event follows President Bill Clinton’s visit in May 2023. Last year’s meeting in Bulgaria helped spur action on the commitments affirmed at the September 2023 CGI Annual Meeting in New York
Details of the May 2024 event will be announced in the coming weeks.
Hillary Clinton visited Bulgaria for the first time more than 25 years ago, coming to Sofia in October 1998 as the first lady of the USA. During the trip, she opened the “Women in the 21st Century” conference in Sofia, giving voice to ideas for equal rights and full female participation in Bulgaria and throughout Southeast Europe.
