BNP held a protest march in front of the central office in Nayapaltan demanding the release of leaders and activists arrested in various cases across the country. However, due to lack of permission, the procession had to be blocked by the police. Later, in a short rally in front of the central office, the leaders of the party complained that the government is obstructing the opposition parties, including BNP, from the democratic program.

On Sunday (April 28) a little after 11 am, leaders and activists of various wards and units of the capital gathered in front of the central office in Nayapaltan. The BNP leaders and activists took out a procession under the leadership of Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint Secretary General of the party. However, due to lack of prior permission, the police stopped the procession from moving forward after going some distance. Later BNP leaders held a short rally in front of the party office.

They complain that the police are repeatedly obstructing the program of BNP on the orders of the government. BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi alleged that the ruling party is trying to establish a one-party rule by suppressing the opposition party.

He said, on the orders of the government, the police are repeatedly obstructing the march of BNP, the democratic program of the opposition party is being criticized. The ruling party is busy suppressing the opposition party while suppressing corruption and public welfare.

He also said that no matter how hostile the environment is, BNP’s program will continue on the streets until Awami League is dismissed. The government kept Begum Zia under house arrest to establish a one-party rule.
