The National Electoral Institute (INE) will allow about 21 thousand Mexicans who gave incomplete data vote from abroad in the Elections 2024.
The National Surveillance Commission proposed including the records of people living abroad and whose inconsistencies can be corrected by information found in the INE database.
This measure aims guarantee the right to vote of Mexicans residing abroadwhere almost 21 thousand citizens who provided incomplete data will be able to participate in the Elections 2024 which will take place on June 2.

On April 22, a public session was held at the INE where members of Mexico’s seven political parties recommended that the records of Mexicans who provided incomplete data be incorporated so that they can vote from abroad in the 2024 Elections.
The records that will be reincorporated are those whose inconsistencies can be corrected by information found in the INE database.
This way, 20,964 Mexicans who provided incomplete data with minor inconsistencies will be included in the Nominal List of Voters Resident Abroad so that they can be incorporated no later than April 28 and vote outside of Mexico.

The almost 21 thousand Mexicans will be reincorporated into the Nominal List of Voters Resident Abroad for giving incomplete data or minor inconsistencies in their records with the INE.
The INE detailed that These are the inconsistencies presented in the 20,964 cases of Mexicans who will vote from abroad:
- 10,572 presented minor differences or absence of signature on the copy of the Voting Credential
- 75 had a copy of the front or back of the Voter Credential missing
- 9,859 presented a combination of inconsistency in the Voter Credential or in the proof of address
- 458 had proof of address with inconsistency
The INE indicated that those records of Mexicans living abroad and that they cannot be definitely included in the Nominal List of Voters Resident Abroad, will be included in the National Nominal List of Voters.
In this way, eventually They could vote in Mexican territory or, if applicable, in the 23 consular offices where voting will be carried out in person for the 2024 Elections.
With this measure, the INE seeks to maximize the right to vote of Mexicans residing abroad.
