Uzbekistan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Belarus became the most popular destinations for Russians to travel abroad on May 1 – the Spring and Labor Day.
As Day.Az reports with reference to a study by the travel service Tutu.ru, among the top 5 air destinations there are flights to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Kaliningrad and Mineralnye Vody.
Among flights abroad for the holiday, the most popular route was to Uzbekistan; flights to Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Belarus were also in demand, according to the service data.
It should be noted that according to OneTwoTrip, Turkey is named the most popular holiday destination for Russians during the May holidays – it accounts for 11.5 percent of air orders. The UAE and China take second and third places. The gap between the countries turned out to be minimal. The shares reach 7.4 and 7.2 percent, respectively. Also, Russians plan to go to Uzbekistan for the holidays – 6.5 percent, Georgia – 5.4 percent, Kazakhstan – 4.9 percent, Indonesia – 4.5 percent, Azerbaijan – 4.0 percent and Belarus – 3.9 percent.
Year on year, demand for vacations in Indonesia and China increased – 5.5 and 5 times, respectively. Russians now choose trips to Georgia twice as often. Interest in the UAE also increased by 30 percent and in Azerbaijan by 20 percent. At the same time, the demand for Turkey has decreased by half, the share of Kazakhstan has decreased by a third, and Armenia and Belarus have decreased by 20 percent.
