MARLENGO. It is the third workplace accident in a few days in Alto Adige. He died on Saturday afternoon in Marlengo Erhard Tutzer 78 years old, well-known entrepreneur, owner of the Plonerhof and internationally award-winning winemaker.
Tutzer, in the Plonerhof area – which is located above the railway line in the stretch between Foresta and Marlengo – was busy fertilizing the fields. He rolled with his tractor from a wall of about 4 meters. The agricultural vehicle overturned and crushed the man who died practically instantly. The alarm was raised promptly. The firefighters of Marlengo and Merano, the White Cross with the emergency doctor and the carabinieri intervened. However, the very serious injuries sustained left the man no escape.
Great impression in Marlengo due to the tragedy that deeply affects the community of the town and the world of agriculture. Mayor Felix Lanpacher in shock he recalled the figure of Tutzer with words of deep emotion: «Erhard was a great nurseryman in the wine sector, achieving extraordinary results at an international level where his wines obtained important recognition. Since he reached retirement age he had taken over the Plonerhof which he ran together with his wife Herta and their son. He was an exceptional person and always available to put his expertise at the service of others, as in our case when we have to support the wine business with the initiatives we hold in the village. Marlengo lost a big character with Tutzer. I express my personal condolences and those of the entire community to his wife Herta and his son.”
