The feature is available to English learners in Argentina, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Mexico, and Venezuela who have joined Search Labs.
Search Labs is a program for users to experiment with early-stage Google Search experiences.
The speaking practice feature builds on a feature Google launched in October 2023, designed to help English learners improve their skills.
The feature, launched last year, allows English learners to practice pronouncing sentences in context, and receive feedback on grammar and clarity.
The new speaking practice feature adds the dimension of back-and-forth conversation practice.
User X was the first to discover the speech practice feature on Google Search, sharing a screenshot of the function.
The speech practice feature works by asking users conversational questions, to which they need to respond using specific words.
